This chapter discusses mercury removal by wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems installed to remove sulfur dioxide (SO2) from coal flue gas. While most wet FGD systems were not originally designed to remove mercury from flue gas, there can be considerable co-benefit capture of mercury under favorable conditions.

عرض المزيدIn wet lime scrubbing, lime is added to water and the resulting slurry is sprayed into a flue gas scrubber. In a typical system, the gas to be cleaned enters the bottom of a cylinder-like tower and flows upward through a shower of lime slurry. The sulfur dioxide is absorbed into the spray and then precipitated as wet calcium sulfite.
عرض المزيدERGIL's Flue Gas Desulfurization system employs various methods, including Wet, Dry, and Semi-Dry Flue Gas Desulfurization. These techniques involve using liquid absorbents, solid sorbents, or a mixture of both to capture and convert the harmful SO2 present in flue gases into less harmful compounds like calcium sulfite or sulfate.
