I use a food processor (one I have dedicated to making things like this) to powder/grate my bar soap. You can use a microplaner or food grater. If you don't mind using powdered detergent, you can forgo the vinegar. I use 1 bar of soap (grated), 1 cup of washing soda and 1 cup of borax to make my laundry detergent. It works really well!
