It's been about 6 years since I replaced a mill belt. IIRC I pulled the fuses in the disconnect and removed the motor and laid it on the mill table. I then removed the socket head screws holding the alum. housing that covers the drive belt area and lifted it off. Then you could remove the belt and put a new one on.

Replace the motor standoffs / isolators and set the belt tension to Haas specifications. Test the belt for incorrect tracking in both the clockwise and counterclockwise directions. If the incorrect tracking continues, flip the belt over and install the belt. If the incorrect tracking continues in the opposite direction, replace the belt.

I had my drive belt self destruct tonight. I had adjusted the tension about 20 hours ago an it looked fine. I have never changed on before. I took the brake off to get the old belt out. Does the new one go in that way or is their anything else I need to do in the morning to get it installed. I know 7/16 at 24 lbs after installed for a new belt.

Serpentine belt replacement is easy because today's automatic drive belt tensioners eliminate the need to loosen bolts or pry components into position for retensioning. If you can get to the pin holding the vert auger to the gear box, remove the pin. Then remove all drive chains and belts. Replace the spindle drive belt if necessary. Install the new gearbox. Set the correct tension on the spindle drive belt. Refer to VMC - Drive Belt Tension - Gates Sonic Meter - Instructions.
